PAGE

A page is one side of a folded sheet of paper. Here is an example:

Newspaper finishing lines require a minimum thickness of 8 pages. To ensure you a nice fold, we deliver 4 pages newspapers 2 by 2.

SPREADS

A spread is two facing pages - one left-hand page and one right-hand page. The central spread is on the same sheet of paper while other spreads are on separate sheets.
Here is an example of spread:

Spread can be used to make posters. It's called double-page spread. Artworks can be printed right across the page with no central margin or gutter.
Double-page spread on a single sheet of paper :

format journal

It is possible to print multiple double-page spread in a same newspaper.
For example, you can print a 12 pages newspaper and pull apart into 6 spreads / 3 sheets. Pages 2 and 11 are printed on the same sheet, as are pages 3 and 10, 4 and 9 etc.
To make sure the posters are proper, ensure that the inner edges of each page have no central margin or gutter and that they come together, while maintaining a margin on the outer edges of the spread.
